| Media Networks, Inc. makes Caps for Good
Media Networks, Inc. takes great pride in being able to donate valuable advertising space, in some of the nation’s most popular magazines, to important organizations like Save the Children.
Our relationship with Save has been very successful, as we have placed their ads in powerhouse magazines like Time, Newsweek , and Sports Illustrated, and Save has been able to spread their message to millions of people. Save’s mission, to improve the lives of needy children around the country, and around the world, is very close to the hearts of the employees at MNI, and we were very excited to participate in the Caps for Good program.
When the program started in January, we were lucky to have three or four talented knitters at MNI, and an additional group who had little to no experience, but lots of enthusiasm! Our group met during lunch several times during the week to improve their skills and contribute to this incredibly important cause. It was sobering to learn of the high infant mortality rate in undeveloped countries, and how something as simple as a warm hat could truly save a baby’s life.
We set out to make 100 hats to donate to Save, but as the momentum grew, our number swelled to over 150! At the end of February, when representatives from Save the Children came to MNI to collect our caps, it was extremely satisfying to see all those bright and beautiful hats lined up, knowing that each one was about to fulfill an amazing destiny.
The Caps for Good program is an important way for everyday people to take a simple step to help someone in need around the world. We discovered that hand knitting the caps, and bonding with our co-workers over a practical and significant cause, really inspired us. In addition to the big, broad gesture of MNI donating millions of dollars in ad space to an incredibly worthy cause, we were able to personally make a difference in the life of a person who is in need. The representatives from Save told us that the recipients of the caps are beyond thankful for the kindness shown to them. In fact, long after the baby is grown and the valuable wool from the cap is repurposed, many hold on to the card that came with it, forever cherishing and finding hope in the selfless gift from a stranger.
MNI is honored to have been a part of Save the Children’s Caps for Good program. We look forward to our continuing partnership, and to any opportunities where we can help them spread their message and positively affect the lives of the neediest children around the world.
