How to Have a Great Life

Life Issues: Section 1

Why do you think God put you here? You are not an
accident; He created you completely different than everyone else. Did
you know God has even written about you in a book? The Bible says, "You
saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your
book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed" (Psalm
139:16). What do you think God has for you in that book? While there is
no way to know the future, God has given you a blueprint to build your
life. You can be creative with it, but there are certain things you
know it will have: at least four walls, a roof, a foundation, windows --
the general blueprint. Jesus is the blueprint for your life. You look
to Him to see how to build your life.

So what did Jesus' life look like? Would you believe that He
came to earth with the specific plan of dying? He said, "For even the
Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his
life as a ransom for many" (Matthew 20:28). It's like planting a seed
in the ground. You could eat that seed and be filled for a minute, or
you could sacrifice it to the ground so that a great plant could grow.
Jesus knew that the best use of His life was to sacrifice it so many
others could be saved from their sins. His whole life was about obeying
God and putting others first. There is your blueprint. Maybe you want
to paint your house blue and be a musician; maybe you want to build
great windows and be an athlete; but no matter what you do, you can do
it to honor God and love others. If you follow that blueprint, your
life will be worthwhile.
